There is evidence that Apple will be releasing some kind of new hardware at 5:30 AM Pacific today. This weekend I predicted that Apple’s rumored AirTags or a possible Apple TV would be the most likely candidates. This was just a hunch, based on various reports from the previous months. AirTags were supposedly done and ready, while an Apple TV is in development and the AirPods Studio ran into some delay.
However, there was a new rumor yesterday that contradicted this. AppleTrack, a site that up to this point has been dedicated to tracking the accuracy of Apple leakers, has suddenly thrown its own hat into the ring. They claimed that, “according to multiple sources familiar with the matter who request to remain anonymous,” Apple will be releasing the AirPods Studio today. Well that’s an interesting shift.
The article doesn’t have any other details and no one has come out and fully confirmed this information. That said, Mark Gurman DID remind everyone that he previously predicted that the AirPods Studio would be released this year. It’s subtle, but still worth noting considering his track record.
Some reading on our stories about the long-in-development Apple headphones April: https://t.co/IN5Yy7aDGI and in October https://t.co/cONNugsahk “Apple is still planning to announce high-end, noise-canceling over-ear headphones.”

Then you also had a few sources coming out to debunk the Apple TV rumors yesterday. This included L0vetodream, who got everyone started thinking Apple releasing one more product this year. So it sounds like that can be crossed off of the list of candidates to hit the market this morning.
So I guess it’s down to two. We have the AirPods Studio and AirTags. I wouldn’t count out the former, as we still don’t have a lot to go on, even with a couple of late rumors. However, I have my fingers crossed and credit card ready for the former. The AirPods Studio were the product I was most looking forward to this fall and I was very disappointed when they were reportedly being pushed to next year because of production problems.
I think it’s obvious that Apple would have preferred to have released the AirPods Studio at one of their events this year being that they will be their highers-end headphones. However, I will be very impressed if they can recover from whatever issues they had and get them out the door today. That would take an already very impressive 2020 hardware lineup to an even higher level.
We shall see in around an hour. Until then…
