Mounting Reports Point to a Huge Autumn for Apple

It won’t be long now. An Apple Event to announce a new iPhone lineup and potentially several other devices is less than a month away. The fact that there are three new phones coming is really old news. Like 10 months old, at this point. The rumor mill never sleeps, right? The sizes, screen types, resolutions, astrological signs, etc of these phones have also been widely publicized over the last six months. We are close enough to the event now that this information should actually be reliable. Honestly, its nice to see that the leakers got it right this year. It’s been relatively drama free now that no one really cares about notches, missing headphone jacks, or the end of TouchID.

Pencil this in

So we all know about the new iPhones, but isn’t all that may be showing up on store shelves in September. Even the iPhones may have a last-minute trick up their sleeves, with a new report that the OLED models will be compatible with the Apple Pencil. All I have to say is it’s about damn time. This has been rumored and projected before, and we have all seen Apple’s patent filings over the last two to three years. However, this is the first prediction of Pencil support based on supply chain rumors that I can remember. This also begs the question whether we will see a new or redesigned Apple Pencil at this upcoming event, as well. We shall see.

Keeping watch

New Apple Watch Series 4 models with edge to edge screen and improved health sensors are also coming soon. As popular as the Series 3 has been, there is no way a new version isn’t coming before Christmas. The real question is, will it be announced along with the iPhones, or later on? Personally, my money is on later, but more on that in a moment.

Padding the score

Two new iPad Pros with slimmed bezels, Face ID, and no Home Button are also pretty much a given between now and the end of the year, and I’m ready. Come on Apple. Take my money. Well, give me a chance to sell my current one and the Logitech Keyboard case that I love but won’t fit anymore first.

Again, the real question is one of now or later. I predict that Apple will give the iPhone the limelight in this September event, and hold the new Pros and Watch for a month or so.

Better odds

If you are looking for more new Apple hardware sooner, keep your eyes out for a new MacBook. The long-rumored less expensive MacBook reportedly will be released within the next two months. No one is exactly sure of the sizes, or whether it will carry the Air branding or not, but whatever it is called, it is finally on its way.

While it isn’t a given that this new MacBook will be announced alongside the new iPhones, it could potentially hit shelves before Apple’s new flagship hardware. A new value-priced MacBook may not warrant more than a press release, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Apple gives it a little lip service at the upcoming event. Let’s face it- no Mac is taking much of the spotlight off of the iPhone, so this makes more sense to me than Apple crowding the presentation with iPhones, iPads, and Watches.

Odds and ends

Will AirPower FINALLY show up, or will it continue to be vaporware? How about the refreshed AirPods that have been rumored to be coming? If Apple’s rumored higher-quality headphones were coming soon, we would probably heard something about them from the supply chain by now, so the AirPower, AirPods, and a new Apple Pencil are the most likely filler items for Apple’s next event.

No matter when everything lands, there is a LOT of new Apple gear coming between now and the end of 2018. My back pocket is getting per-imptively sore just thinking about it. No problem, though. That’s what eBay, Craigslist, and Swappa are for.
