Duolingo: The Future of Learning a Language


Duolingo_logoEvery iPad user has that app he or she uses when they have some time to blow. Generally, it’s something that isn’t very constructive. Some entail throwing birds at pigs, while others reading through gigantic amounts of news you’re never going to use. For those of us who want to be more constructive, however, there’s a different app, and its name is Duolingo. Duolingo allows you to learn a new language, right on your iPad. You can learn Italian, Portuguese, German, French, or Spanish with the app. More languages are coming soon, and just in case you need help understanding this article, you can learn English as well.

Update Coming for Duolingo for iPad

The popular language learning app Duolingo, which boasts over 25 million learners, will be updated to version 4.0 on April 24, promising big  and exciting changes. You may recognize this app – it was the Free iPad App of the week on iPad Insight and was Apple’s iPhone App of The Year in 2013.

Review: Omni Study for iPad

A few months ago the Omni Study App was released and looked to capture a new segment of the education market. It was soon recognized by the App Store as a best new app. Needless to say, any writer would be excited to review such an app, and I was too. Unfortunately, the results were disappointing and buggy to say the least.

No matter what your level of education, there will always be things you need to memorize. There’s no better way to do that than with your good old trusty flashcards. But just like so many things of the past, flashcards have been reinvented for today’s digital world. Brainscape for iPad allows users to study flash cards in a different way than other services offer. The apps are well designed, and really do help you memorize the material. From Chinese to Sports Trivia, this app will get the job done.
