Who doesn’t like free? And who doesn’t like great iPad apps? When the two come together it’s good stuff. With that in mind, we’d like to share our Best Free iPad App of the Week here every weekend.
This week we’d like to draw your attention to the wonderful iPad app 1,000 places To See Before You Die, already familiar to many in book form, the bestseller by Patricia Schultz. This is a comprehensive and impressive collection of photos and facts on places around the globe that one has to have seen and experienced. The list of chosen places fascinates all of us who appreciate beauty and geography and of course, who love to travel, both literally and virtually.
Having never gotten around to getting the print version, I was pleased to hear about the new iPad app. I’m happy to say it’s well done, well thought through and well executed. There are several choices of navigation: you can browse by continent, region, category, country or search by keyword or photo. Once you create a profile, you can record “Places I’ve been” and “Places I want to go” – very handy – as well as see and share your activity and post your own photos and tips.
It comes as no surprise that browsing beautiful high-res photos on the iPad is a pleasurable experience. The app is quick, visually appealing and easy to use. The flow is logical and feels natural. The interactive and customizing elements are a great addition.
You can literally lose hours in this app. Although I doubt anyone will finish reading about all 1,000 places but this iPad app may just be inspiring enough to reach that goal!
Here’s an App Store link for 1,000 Places To See Before You Die. This offer is limited so download it now!
