Etsy for iPad

One of the best things about using an iPad is all the great apps that we can run on it. There are excellent apps for just about any purpose you can think of. Better still, there are lots of great free apps for the iPad. Our Best Free iPad App of the Week posts highlight these apps.

This week’s pick is Etsy. There have been a few unofficial efforts but this is the official Etsy app for the iPad and iOS – offering access to Etsy’s eclectic collection of over 17 million unique items from more than 800,000 shops from around the world.

You can sign in to the app (for free of course) and choose some topics you’re interested in to help shape what you see on the app’s main screen.

The app’s first screen shows Your Feed and Community Picks. These are good for discovering random items. Tapping the Search icon takes you to a page where you can browse by category or use the search bar to look for specific items.

Main category sections include Art, Home and Living,Jewelry, Women, Men,Kids, weddings, Vintage, Accessories for iPhone, Gift Ideas, New Year’s, and more. There are tons of sub-sections too – just as one quick example that I browsed last night, there’s Gift Ideas > Tech Lovers

When you use search you can apply filters by price or see local items based on your city, state, country or zip code. You can also sort by relevance: most relevant, most recent, lowest price, highest price.

Of course there is a ton of great stuff for iPads in Etsy’s shops:

And plenty of cool and creative items across a broad range of categories. I love looking at the posters and tshirts.

You can mark items as favorites and purchase items from right within the app too, and the whole transaction is done and dusted without being kicked out to a browser at any point.

Etsy sellers can use the app to renew, edit, and create listings, view shop stats, create shipping notifications, and get alerts when orders are placed at their shop.

Here’s an App Store link for Etsy.

  1. “Etsy sellers can use the app to renew, edit, and create listings, view shop stats, create shipping notifications, and get alerts when orders are placed at their shop”.

NOT TRUE!! unless I am missing something here, Etsy took all the useful seller tools OUT of this app, it is for shopping only!
