One of the best things about using an iPad is all the great apps that we can run on it. There are excellent apps for just about any purpose you can think of. Better still, there are lots of great free apps for the iPad. Our Best Free iPad App of the Week posts highlight these apps.
This week’s pick is Zite, or Zite Personalized Magazine to use its full App Store title. Zite is one of the very best news magazines for the iPad, and one that continually improves by learning from you. Here’s a slice of its App Store intro:
Zite is an intelligent magazine that helps you discover interesting things to read.
Your Zite is as unique as you are. Zite learns what you like and gets smarter as you use it. Zite analyzes millions of articles each day and brings you the best of your favorite magazines, newspapers, authors, blogs, and videos.
It’s easy to let Zite know which articles you like and what type of content you’d like to see more of, or less of. You can give an article a thumbs up or thumbs down with just a quick tap or swipe. You can also choose to link your Twitter, Facebook, Pocket, and Google Reader accounts to let it learn from your social activity. I connected just Twitter and Pocket as I don’t want too much overlap with RSS feeds I follow
Sharing interesting content is easy too, with the app’s extensive range of sharing options. These include email, Twitter, Facebook, Pocket and Instapaper, Evernote, and more.
A tap on the Search bar lets you search for any topic you like, and also presents you with the Explore screen. This offers a listing of Popular topics, Zite Picks, and a New & Noteworthy section.
The app looks and works great in both portrait and landscape mode.
Zite’s greatest strength is surfacing new content and sources you weren’t aware of, or had forgotten about. Basically you’ll find a lot of content here that you just don’t come across anywhere else.
** Please note that Zite requires iOS 6 or higher.
Here’s an App Store link for Zite; it’s a universal app designed for both iPad and iPhone.
