Greetings Meatbag

Who doesn’t like great iPad apps? At iPad Insight we definitely do. With that in mind, we offer up a quick review of an excellent iPad app, or a few great iPad apps, here each week.

Our weekly picks for Best iPad App of the Week are published here every Saturday. Check out all out picks below and you’ll soon have a collection of stellar apps for your favorite tablet.

This week’s pick is CARROT Weather – Talking Forecast Robot –  a wise-cracking, snark serving ‘weatherbot’ in the form of an iPad app.

Now there are plenty of very good iPad weather apps – from those with beautiful still and video imagery to others with copious amounts of detailed maps and comprehensive weather information. But … CARROT Weather serves up the weather with a healthy dose of sarcasm and humor – and that’s quite a nice new spin on a weather app.

Right from the first time you launch it CARROT Weather sets the tone – as you can see in the screencap above – with its ‘Greetings meatbag’ message. It follow that up by letting you know it needs just a moment while it is ‘meteorologizing’.

The app uses a Siri-like female voice, and adds a lot more bite than Siri has shown so far. My first time swiping up to look at a forecast, it offered up this little gem:

Some fascinating weather you’ve got coming up there. Just remember every cloud has a silver lining, except for mushroom clouds.

When I tapped the circle to the left of the current temperature (and tapped a few more times), I got the weatherbot riled up and ended up with this hilarious sequence, which is even funnier of course when it’s also being spoken out loud by the app:

Not Too Bright

Kids should especially enjoy these snarky exchanges. Heck, I’m a grown-up (mostly) and I like it lots.

Apart from the humor, here are the apps weather data pints and notable features

• “Feels like” temperature
