Who doesn’t like great iPad apps? At iPad Insight we definitely do. With that in mind, we offer up a quick review of an excellent iPad app, or a few great iPad apps, here each week.

Our weekly picks for Best iPad App of the Week are published here every Saturday. Check out all out picks below and you’ll soon have a collection of stellar apps for your favorite tablet.

This week’s pick is Kickstarter, the iPad version of the popular crowd-funding site that’s the launch pad for so many interesting creative projects. Here’s a better description of it, from the Kickstarter folks themslelves:

Kickstarter is a vibrant community of people working together to bring creative projects to life. People from all over the world have pledged $1 billion to projects on Kickstarter, funding everything from art, to new games, innovative technologies, Oscar-winning documentaries, and much, much more.

Project

I’m a big fan of Kickstarter and I’ve backed numerous projects over the last few years – many of them iPad and iOS related, and a number of those are now permanent fixtures around my home office. So I’m happy that’s there a great iPad app for this ever so useful service.

The Kickstarter iPad app makes it easy to discover new projects. You can search for a project you’ve heard about or browse collections sorted by Popularity, Newest, Ending Soon, Most Funded, or by ‘Magic’.

Most Funded

There are some very big numbers when you look at the most funded projects.

Sorted by Magic

The app also shows what’s new on projects you’ve backed, without even looking for that.

Whats New

The pages for individual projects show a brief project summary, the demo video, number of backers, amount pledged so far and the target number needed, and days to go in the project. It also has sub-pages for Description, Rewards for project backers, Updates, and Comments.

Sections

You can back a project from within the app, and share an interesting project to friends via any app that supports the iOS Share feature. If you’re a project creator you can post updates, track funding progress and stay in touch with backers.

Oh, and if you only check out one Kickstarter project today or anytime soon, I would highly recommend that it be ‘Exploding Kittens’ – the hilarious looking card game from the ever brilliant Matthew Inman, creator of The Oatmeal.

Here’s an App Store link for Kickstarter; it’s a free app and is designed to run on both iPad and iPhone.
