iPad Art: The Moon Over Prague

La Luna Sobre Praga by Pilar Humada

I’m about as artistic as a lump of coal, but I’ve always appreciated great art and admired the heck out of those who create it. Given my huge interest in the iPad, I’ve been fascinated to watch as a growing number of both traditional and ‘digital’ artists have embraced the Apple tablet as not just one of their tools, but as their primary canvas in recent years.

I’ll share some great iPad art here each weekend, and I hope some of you will become fans of it too, or better still be inspired to create your own art on the iPad.

Today’s featured iPad artwork is ‘La luna sobre Praga’ by Pilar Humada – which I have, hopefully accurately, translated as The Moon Over Prague. Prague is one of the cities in the world that I would most like to visit, and I still kick myself that I didn’t make it there during years spent living in the UK.

The Charles Bridge is one of the landmarks most associated with Prague, and this iPad painting of it makes me want to book my travel tickets today. I’m a big fan of cityscape images and I think this is a great one.

It was painted freehand on iPad using the Ibis Paint app.

iPad Artists: Raheem Nelson

Heisenberg by Raheem Nelson

I myself am about as artistic as a lump of coal, but I’ve always appreciated great art and admired the heck out of those who create it. Given my huge interest in the iPad, I’ve been fascinated to watch watched as a growing number of both traditional and ‘digital artists have embraced the Apple tablet as not just one of their tools, but as their primary canvas in recent years.

I’ll share some great iPad artwork here each weekend, and I hope some of you will become fans of it too, or better still be inspired to create your own art on the iPad.

Today’s featured iPad artist is Raheem Nelson. Nelson is an accomplished artist who started out creating and publishing his own comic books at a young age, moved into cartooning and now works exclusively on the iPad.

The image above is ‘Heisenberg’ – Walter White’s alter-ego on the excellent Breaking Bad TV series. It was made using the Procreate app.

I’m continually amazed with the incredible art being created on iPads. For years I’ve watched as a growing number of both traditional and ‘digital artists have embraced the Apple tablet as not just one of their tools, but as their primary canvas. I’ll share some great iPad artwork here each weekend, and I hope some of you will become fans of it too, or better still be inspired to create your own art on the iPad.

Today’s selection of amazing iPad art is around the theme of portraits. First up is Halle Berry by Woon Tien David Chong – created using the Procreate app. One of the most beautiful women in the world, and this portrait does her justice I think.

Incredible iPad Paintings

Flamenco Brushes 2

I’ve been fascinated with the incredible paintings being created on iPads and iPhones for years now. There is more and more fantastic art being created on iPads by digital artists and also by established and acclaimed traditional artists – like Britain’s David Hockney, just to cite one quick example.

I even run a little baby site devoted to just iPad and iPhone art. I rarely get time to update it lately though and I think I’m going to start sharing some iPad art here on iPad Insight on a regular basis. I am hoping some of you will share my admiration for the wonderful images being created on our favorite tablet device.

As a start, I’ll share some favorite iPad paintings each weekend, either instead of or in addition to a weekend iPad wallpapers post.  This week’s picks start with the image shown above – ‘Flamenco’ by Woon Tien David Chong, created with the Brushes 2 app. I love Flamenco and I love how this image captures the elegance of it.
