Oh yes, it is that time of year again. The 2010 Best App Ever Awards are underway and accepting nominations. This is the third year the awards are being run, and they are based on an excellent premise: the aim is to recognize the very best iOS apps out there, not just the best selling apps.
The awards cover both apps and games, and this year, fittingly, they are adding iPad apps into the mix. Here’s more information on the awards, straight from the press release announcing them this morning:
The categories focus on the quality of the app design, the
overall usefulness, and the fun factor.
Created by 148Apps, the 2010 Best App Ever Awards are expected to
greatly exceed the interest of last year’s competition, which received
over 300,000 votes for nearly 2,000 different apps. The Best App Ever
Awards are the original iPhone OS Application achievement awards to
recognize the best iPhone apps and games released in the iTunes App
New this year is a separate division for iPad applications in each
category. When nominated, iPad applications will automatically be
split into the proper division. All app nominations must be submitted
online at the Best App Ever site before December 31, 2010. Finalists
will be announced on January 2, 2011 and will include the top ten
nominees in each category and each division. Voting for these
finalists will run through January 26, 2011.
The top 10 nominated iOS apps overall will compete for the title of
Best App Ever. Winners in all categories will be announced at the 2011
MacWorld Expo in San Francisco.
I always enjoy these awards a whole bunch; last year I even served on the selection committee for them. This year it’s all in users’ hands and I think that’s great too. I’m looking forward to seeing all the worthy winners for 2010.
Whenever you have a chance, get over here and start nominating all your iPad an iPhone favorites:
