A Use for the iPad That Won’t Get Into a Steve Jobs Demo (NSFW!)

Here’s a use for the iPad that’s really not in the ‘magical’ arena, and is not one that Steve Jobs will ever be hyping on stage, but it appears to have been quite effective.

Mike Lightman – who labels himself as ‘copywriter, tinkerer, smartass’ on his blog – became frustrated recently when his wife was not able to get timely – or even basic, civil – treatment at a local dental school. And he decided to have the iPad help in getting her some proper attention.

In a moment of frustration, Sue grumbled “I wish I could hold up a sign that says I’ve been here for an hour and a half already.” She didn’t have any spare cardboard, but Supernerd whipped out his iPad!

I loaded up Letterboard , the best 99¢ I’ve spent so far and typed out my sign.

I’m not sure that’s going to work at every medical center – but I’m glad it worked out for Mike and his wife. You can read the full story here: http://mikelightman.com/blog/?p=7461
