iOS 11 is Officially Here. What Do You Think About It?

iOS 11 is finally here! I’ve been running the beta version on my iPad since I got my new 12.9” Pro on the first ship day, and on my iPhone for the last month and a half, so today felt a little anti-climactic to me. However, I know that the vast majority of Apple users don’t load beta versions. Most of you wait until launch day to upgrade your devices, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. No techno-judgement or snobbery here.

What I am interested in finding out is what all of you think about iOS 11, especially those who are trying it with fresh eyes today. What do you think of the new Control Center? What about the new and at least somewhat improved Siri? The voice definitely sounds better. How about Siri’s performance? It’s gotten a little better for me over the last three beta updates. If you are an iOS Notes user, you should definitely be happy with iOS 11. Have you taken the Files app for a spin, yet?

For iPad Pro users, what do you think of all the new multi-tasking features? How about the new Dock? Have you tried the newly re-designed App Switcher? iOS 11 is a nice update on the iPhone, but it really shines on the iPad, in my opinion.

How about my fellow Apple Watch users? What do you think of the new Siri watchface? Has anyone tried out the new Workout features? Pro tip- If you are as sick of the “App Honeycomb” as I was, just Force Press on the screen while on the App Grid screen, and change over to List View. It makes app selection from the main list far more user-friendly, in my opinion.

Are there any tvOS users out there? Mine is offline at the moment, so it is the only Apple device I have that hasn’t been updated. What has your experience been like?

I am also curious to hear if any of you have run into problems. Any lockups while upgrading? Device failures after upgrading? Did any of you have issues with too little free memory to download iOS 11? Has anyone had issues with slow performance or crashes on a device after successfully updating? If so, what device were you upgrading?

I hope everyone out there who has or is upgrading to iOS 11 has an easy time of it and a great experience after. However it went, you can tell me all about it in the Comments section below, on Flipboard, on our Facebook page, or on Twitter @iPadInsightBlog.

  1. Really like the larger, bolder fonts in many areas of IOS 11. Wish they were consistent throughout, but it usually takes two versions of the OS for this to happen. I really like the new features on the IPad, especially for multiprogramming.

I am still getting used to WatchOS 4.
