Emoji has become a standard international keyboard that can easily be added in iOS 5 via the Settings app, and it’s usable in built-in apps like Messages, Mail, and Notes.

To enable it you go to Settings > General > Keyboard > International Keyboards and choose Add New Keyboard. You’ll see it in the alphabetical listing and can just tap on it to add it.

I haven’t used emoji much in the past, but I found it fun to try out this morning in Messages and other apps.
