If you have several iOS devices in your house you know that it can be a major pain in the neck finding convenient charging spots for them. Plugging the charging units into a UPS, hoping the charging cable is long enough to reach a not too terribly awkward place on a desk or table top, and all that sort of thing.
The Griffin PowerDock 5 looks like an accessory that could bring some major relief in this area. It is capable of storing / holding and charging up to 5 iOS devices at once from a single power source. It’s compatible with every iPad model from original through the iPad mini and iPad Retina, with the iPhone 3GS and newer, and with more than 10 models of iPod Classic, Nano, and Touch.
The PowerDock 5 is said to take up only about as much room as a single iPad. It offers an individual charging port for each device and can even accommodate devices in their case – thought I’m sure this applies to only some of the more slimline cases.
Here’s the quick key features list for the PowerDock 5:
- Store and charge 5 iPads, iPhones or iPod touches simultaneously
- Space-saving design for your countertop
- Cables not included
- Illuminated power status light
- 10 watts (5 volts DC @ 2.1 amps) for each charging bay
- Accommodates iPad tablets in their cases
It’s priced at $99.99 and I’m definitely going to try to get hold of one for review.
