From the category of “Yet Another iPad Music Accessory” come 2 items from the labs of Griffin Technology, makers of iPhone, iPod, iPad and other device accessories since 1992.

Griffin Technology now presents StompBox for iPad and Mic Stand for iPad. StompBox is a professional-quality pedalboard for the iPad. It allows musicians to use it as a portable, programmable effects board and practice rig while recreating the experience of an actual pedalboard. Plug it into the iPad, connect to iShred LIVE (free app from Griffin with 12 electric guitar effects) and get ready to rock n roll!! It is priced at $99.99 and is “coming soon” (expect it in the first quarter of 2011). For details, visit:

As the name says, the Mic Stand Mount lets you mount the iPad on any microphone stand for use either for practice or for the stage. Now this is something I’ve waited for. In the studio I would use my iPad to display lyrics of the songs we were recording. This would have been a perfect fit. The makers say that the Mic Stand Mount screws onto a standard microphone stand, which can be lowered or raised as need be, and is securely stable at the required height. It rotates and locks into either portrait or landscape view and tilts up to 90 degrees. The Mic Stand Mount is priced at $39.99 and will be available in January 2011. For more details, check out:

  1. You can expect these items to break in 1 years time, or whenever the warranty period is ending. I’ve had 2 Roadtrip units from Griffin both break very soon after the warranty period expired and Griffin’s customer service would not replace my unit that has an electrical short at the 30-pin connector (clearly not something caused by mis-use). I will never buy another Griffin made product. They’re cheap, as well as inexpensive.

  2. a classmate of mine told me he got a free ipad how do I get one free I am retired and on a limited income so it is not in my grasp for along time to come but they sound great.

  3. Same thing happened to me with my x box 360. Microsoft wouldn’t help me after I bought two xboxes and original Xbox, i had tons of games for each not to mention live for years. I switched to apple and am now done with Microsoft.
