Ann Cant Sleep for iPad

Ann Can’t Sleep is an animated iPad eBook app for children. Its story is all about companionship, friends, and a little girl who just can’t sleep – and her efforts to find the right toy to help her get off to sleep.

The app is published by Light Sleepers, who describe themselves as ‘a small independent crew of multimedia artists, passionate about creating high-quality entertainment for children
that is beautiful, innocent and sweet
’. I did a review of the superb Koto Go Silence title from Light Sleepers a couple months ago. It’s a fantastic animated iPad book and my daughter and I both love it. So we had high hopes for Ann Can’t Sleep.

Cant Sleep

Happily, we’ve not been disappointed by Ann Can’t Sleep. It’s another charming little story, and it’s beautifully presented again.  The story opens with Ann unable to fall asleep, despite being in the right place at the right time to do so. She tries to enlist the help of her toys but these efforts backfire – as one toy after another proves far too lively.

Car Beeping

Spoiler Alert: Anne eventually finds just the right cuddly toy to help her drift off to sleep.

The illustrations and animations in the app are big, bold, striking, and lots of fun.

Our only slight knock on this title is that the story itself is very short. Nevertheless it should serve as a lovely, gentle bedtime story to share with younger kids.

Here’s an App Store link for Ann Can’t Sleep; it’s priced at $2.99.
