Pimp Your Screen is an iPad (and iOS devices) wallpapers app. There are a number of these around, some of them quite good – but this is far and away the best I’ve seen yet.
Most wallpaper apps, and online collections, offer lots of walls in categories like architecture, cityscapes, animals, celebrities, ‘babes’ and similar. Pimp Your Screen has none of these, so depending on your tastes the app may not be for you. What it does have is an excellent and broad selection of abstract walls – featuring some amazing, creative, and fun images. Some of them are too busy for my taste (at least for home screen use) but lots of them are striking, interesting, and good candidates for use on both home and lock screens.
Here’s a slice of the App Store description for Pimp Your Screen:
Pimp Your Screen is here to customize the way your device looks by giving you an exclusive selection of specially designed backgrounds, icon skins, app shelves, neon combos and many other eye candies.
Pimp Your Screen supports all iOS devices: iPhone 4, iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS/3G/2G, and all iPod Touch versions! The correct image resolutions are sent to your device to exactly contour and fit your device’s entire screen. Please note: if you have iPhone 2G or 3G or iPod touch 2nd gen or your iOS is lower than 4.0, you can only use images for the Lock Screen.
You no longer have to set the image you prefer first and then go back to the Home screen and see how it looks with the icons on it. Pimp Your Screen has an instant preview feature that allows you to quickly preview your new background or app shelf.

The app is easy to navigate around and a pleasure to use. There’s a huge Save button, quick links to get back to its main page, and good sections to view the various types of images by.
The ability to preview the images with icons with a single tap is a very nice little feature, and really helps to decide on which you want to save and try out.
There are lots of unique-feeling images on offer …
And some really fun ones …
As well as some good options if you like the apps on shelves concept …
This is my current pick, for both home and lock screen, but I’ve saved a bunch already and will vary things up often – and this app is giving me lots of cool new choices:
I already gave the game away right at the beginning of this post in terms of my thoughts on this app. It is, by a large distance, the best iPad wallpapers app I’ve come across. If you like abstract, creative, and fun images for your iPad wallpapers, then you need to give this one a look.
Here’s an App Store link for Pimp Your Screen, it’s priced at $0.99 and is a universal app, designed for both iPad and iPhone.
