The Dictator Wadiyan Games for iPad

Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest movie madness, The Dictator, is due to hit theaters in the US next month. In advance of the film’s release Paramount’s Digital Entertainment arm has released an iPad and iOS game – The Dictator: Wadiyan Games.

Here’s a slice of the App Store intro for the game – I love the last line:

The Wadiyan Games lets you step into the shoes of the General Aladeen and compete in his four favorite events – running, swimming, fencing and boxing.
You can also upload a headshot and pose alongside the General Aladeen and share the picture on Facebook, Twitter and email!
The game also features the ultimate finishing moves for each event. Additional sporting events and backdrops can be unlocked with in-app purchase.
The app was blessed by General Aladeen and based on the upcoming Paramount Pictures feature film The Dictator … Due to the size of the app, it is recommended that you download over a WiFi connection, if your country allows internet access!

The game’s main character is The Dictator – General Aladeen. There’s not much to the game, and it’s far from challenging – but if you’re a big Sacha Baron Cohen fan it’s a good bit of novelty fun leading up to the movie release. There are two events that come free with the app (which is also free) – Running and Boxing. You can unlock two more, Swimming and Fencing, for 99 cents each – or pay $1.99 to unlock both of those plus 5 General Aladeen pics. If you choose the latter option, you can also upload headshots to pose yourself or others alongside The General.

In each of the games you are General Aladeen, and in the true Olympic spirit your objective is to kill all of your opponents and take fist place. Your competitors are unarmed and you’re equipped with increasingly powerful and crazy weapons as you move through three levels for each event. In Swimming for example, you go from throwing a net over the other swimmers to shooting them with a harpoon gun, to wiping them out with a nuclear submarine. Unlike Angry Birds type games where each level is a bit more challenging, in this game things get even tougher for your competitors at levels 2 and 3.

Here’s a quick screencast demo to give you a look at the game itself, which is pretty amusing.

Here’s an App Store link for The Dictator: Wadiyan Games; it’s a free app with In-App Purchase options as mentioned above.
