Quiz Apps World Football iPad app

Quiz Apps: World Football is a World Cup trivia quiz game for the iPad and iPhone. I’m a huge football fan and I rate the World Cup and the Summer Olympics as probably the two greatest sporting events ever. So I’m pretty much always in the mood to tackle some World Cup and football trivia.

This game promises to be challenging and fun – here’s a little of its App Store description:

Are you ready for the challenge? Test your knowledge about football with Quiz Apps: World Football. World Football is a fun and fast game in which you can find everything about football including players, teams, coaches, goals, championships… 3 different game modes will challenge you whether you are relaxing at home or just need a short fun break on-the-go. The rich content will provide you with months worth of entertainment.

I was keen to see if the game is as challenging as it claims, and I gave it a try the other night. Sadly, this one doesn’t live up to the hype. Hit the break for an explanation of why it disappoints …

World Cup trivia question

World Football offers 3 modes, as follows:

20 Questions: 20 questions and 20 seconds to answer each one.

Time Attack: 80 seconds to get as many correct answers as you can.

Perfect Wave: Get every answer correct; one wrong answer and you’re done.

The questions in the game are good quality and cover the whole timeline of the World Cup from its outset to the most recent 2010 tournament. The big problem with the app is the question set is just not very large at all.

I started seeing repeat questions just 15 minutes after getting started with the game. Within half an hour I was seeing very frequent repeats. Worst of all, I would see questions repeated within the same game session. As in, I saw the same question asked more than once within one timed round.

The small question set and frequency of repeat questions left me bored with the app in a very short time. I love a good football trivia game, but this one just doesn’t fit the bill.

It’s nowhere near as good as a game called World Cup Trivia Challenge, that I played and reviewed way back in 2009 )on an iPhone). Sadly that one is no longer available in the App Store. I hope somebody will produce a great World Cup trivia game again soon.

Here’s an App Store link for Quiz Apps: World Football. It’s priced at $0.99.
