TitleFx is a new iPad (and iOS) app that brings excellent titles and text to your photos. It’s from East Coast Pixels, the developers of the stellar PhotoToaster app – which was one of our picks for Best iPad Apps of 2011.
Here’s a slice of the App Store description for TitleFx:
TitleFx allows your pictures to tell a story by adding broadcast quality titles. You can turn any picture into a magazine cover, and then share it with your friends.
Pick from a collection of beautiful fonts and colors and apply stunning effects. The interface allows you to see the result before you select it, with a series of unique live lists.
The possibilities are limitless and the results are stunning.
Create multiple text objects with full control over size and position. If you make a mistake you can undo and redo until you get it right. Compositions are saved to a recent list so you can go back and re-edit at any time. This is a powerful, full featured editing environment.
I had very high hopes for the app as soon as I saw it released, because it’s made by East Coast Pixels. It has not disappointed – hit the break for some of the reasons why …
This app uses the same clean, simple interface that’s used by PhotoToaster – and it’s great to work with. Everything is easy and intuitive – so you’re up and running and adding great looking titles to your images right away.
You can import images from your photo library, take a new shot with your iPad camera, or paste in a photo from the clipboard.
To add text you just double-tap the screen where prompted and begin to edit. With a tap on the wrench icon on the top bar you can add a new text block or delete the last one added.
Once you’ve typed in your text you can then style it in a number of cool ways and see it previewed instantly on the fly as you make changes, all via the bottom bar with four sections for effects and adjustments. From left to right these are:
Fonts: Choose from the 19 available fonts that offer a great variety – from casual and fun to elegant and professional looking.
Font Size: A simple slider to adjust the font size..
Color: Pick a color for each of your text blocks.
Fx: Apply any of the 20+ cool effects to your text.
Backgrounds: Try out a number of stylish backgrounds for your titles.
When you’re happy with your creation there’s a great set of options for saving and sharing it; these include saving to the photo library; sending by email or SMS; sharing to Facebook, Flickr, Tumblr, or Twitter; sending to another installed app; and more.
TitleFx is an instant favorite iPad app for me, one that will become a frequently used tool for working with images. It’s simple, friendly interface makes it a joy to use; combined with its powerful range of features it lets you produce great results in no time flat.
Here’s an App Store link for TitleFx; it’s priced at just $1.99 and is a universal app designed for both iPad and iPhone.
