3/11 Tsunami Photo Project

The 3/11 Tsunami Photo Project is a beautiful app with a beautiful purpose. It features photographs of the recent tsunami disaster in Japan taken by a number of accomplished photographers from around the world, who visited the devastated regions affected by the tsunami.

In total, there are 120 images from 14 photographers in the app. As you would expect, the photos are shocking and painful and incredible to look at.

At the end of each set of photos, there’s a full page with a written message from the photographer along with an audio clip. Some of these messages are almost as powerful as the images. You can feel how much these events and witnessing their aftermath has affected each of them.

The best thing about the app is that the publishers, Kodansha, will be donating all proceeds from the project to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

If you’re looking for a way to feel good about spending a dollar in the App Store this weekend, this app is well worth a look.

Here’s an App Store link for 3/11 Tsunami Photo Project; it’s priced at $0.99 and is a universal app designed for both the iPad and iPhone.
