AppStream is a new iPad app from the guys at AppsFire. It is described as a ‘dynamic wall of apps based on what people click right now on appsfire or our partners’. So it’s constantly updating with which apps are hot among AppsFire users.
You can filter the view to show free apps only or all, and iPad or iPhone apps only, or apps covering both.
You can tap on any of the app thumbnails to get a popup with the app’s description and links to reviews (which did not work for me) and to download / purchase the app via iTunes.
The app is intended to be a bit like the impressive wall of apps displayed by Apple at WWDC 2010 – and to give you another interesting alternative for new apps discovery on your iPad.
The developers tell me that the app is pulling from tens of thousands of clicks per day from users at AppsFire and their partners.
I took a quick look at the app yesterday, and I think it’s a decent idea. I’d like to see some more filtering options – maybe for regions or categories of apps for instance – and the developers say these are on the way.
You can find AppStream in the App Store now, and it’s free app.
