The upcoming Boardbox for iPad app touts itself as …
the most graphically-rich, realistic board game app on Apple iPad!
It offers a nice range of board games all within one iPad app – including stalwarts like Chess (5 variants of it), Checkers, Tic Tac Toe, and Reversi.
Other features include rules and game histories sourced from Wikipedia and three board styles – Mahogany, Granite, and Old School.
One slightly odd aspect of the game is that it sounds as if it needs two or more players around to play it – it has no logic engine built in to play against the iPad. See this blog post at the devs’ site for an FAQ type question on this.
Here’s a couple more screenshots:
The app is due to be in the iPad App Store on launch day and priced at $3.99. The developers also claim that all future updates will be free, with no in-app purchase content planned.
