Financial Times iPad Edition Has Made $1.5 in Ad Revenue in Less than 6 Months

£1 million ($1.584 million). That’s the figure that Deputy Chief Executive and Global Commercial Director Ben Hughes of the Financial Times announced this week in relation to in-app advertising through the FT’s iPad application. Not bad for an application that was launched under six months ago.

That’s a slice from a recent report at At first sight that seems like a big number to me, especially considering how new the app (and even the iPad itself) are. Then again, I imagine it’s a fraction of what the FT brings in from print and online advertising – I’d love to see some comparative figures on this.

It’s also notable that they’ve generated that amount despite having just a single advertiser thus far. If anyone has links to ad revenue figures for any other iPad editions, please share them in the comments.
