Gmail for iPad Updated & Looks Great

Gmail for iPad

The Gmail iPad app was updated last week, to Version 2.7182. As you can clearly tell from the version number it’s quite a nice update for Gmail on the iPad. It brings a ‘visual update’ for iOS 7 and a handful of cool new features.

In landscape mode there’s a handy new navigation bar that lets you switch between categories (Primary, Social, Promotions) and accounts. In portrait you get full screen view for messages. And you can now compose messages in full screen too.

The UI for the app just feels a whole lot better all around now. So much so that I’ve now got Gmail on my iPad’s dock. Maybe it’s partly due to this latest update and also due to the fact that I ditched the Mail app on my Mac months ago (and replaced it with a very Gmail-like app) and I’ve been using Android smartphones for some time now.

Anyway, I’m impressed with this update for the Gmail iPad app and I’m afraid the Mail app is in for some lonely times on my iPad.

  1. Gmail is surely looking good with this update. I hardly use the mail app as well. The same also goes for my Android phone. The more Gmail updates I get, the uglier the mail app looks :( .
