The vast majority of apps that I keep around long-term on my iPads are stable and solid apps; apps that very rarely crash or fail to do what they’re intended to do.
i.TV is the rare exception to that. I’ve had this app for years now and, although it will have periods of stability, it remains extremely unreliable and likely to lose its mind at any given moment.
It’s a TV guide sort of app – for looking up what’s on TV, based specifically on your local area and TV provider. When it works well it’s a pleasure to use. The problem is, the app will randomly ‘forget’ all the TV provider information you’ve entered into it – which leaves it incapable of providing any information.
I’ve been seeing this issue since way back in 2011, and I’m still experiencing it as recently as last night. The screenshot above is from last night – when the app added a new twist to its forgetfulness, by also not even finding any providers to let me re-select mine.
It might finally be time to find a more reliable TV listings app.

I very much like the TV Guide app. It is easy to use and very reliable. I like only viewing the major networks and the few other stations I’m likely to watch using their favorites feature. I use it frequently and never have a problem with it.
I’ve been using the TV Guide app for 3 years without glitches – give it a try!
