iPad Version of Popular Mailbox App Coming Soon

Mailbox app

This week the developers of the popular Mailbox app have confirmed that an iPad version of the app is already ‘in the works’ and coming soon. As 9to5Mac reported recently, the developers confirmed this in response to questions from users on Twitter.

Mailbox had an enormously long waiting list when it was initially released as an iPhone app, but is now open to all. It offers a clean, minimal UI that makes ample use of multitouch gestures:

Mailbox is a completely redesigned inbox that makes email light, fast, and mobile-friendly. Quickly swipe messages to your archive or trash. Scan an entire conversation at once with chat-like organization. Snooze emails until later with the tap of a button — they’ll return to your inbox automatically so you can focus on what’s important now.

The app supports Gmail only at the moment, but as far as I know it does not support Gmail labels. I have tried the app out on my iPhone and I do like the simple UI, but the lack of labels support makes it unusable for me.

Are any of you using Mailbox on an iPhone? Looking forward to seeing this one come to the iPad?

  1. I personally LOVE the iPhone Mailbox app and can’t wait for the iPad version. I don’t use labels that much, but you can create your own labels within the app that appear as a folder/label in GMail labeled “Mailbox” with whatever sub-folders you create.
