Notable New iPad Apps: SharePoint Mobile Client

Share This:

harmonie Sharepoint Mobile Client is a new Sharepoint client app for the iPad and iPhone. It looks quite full-featured and promising.

Here’s one big advantage for Sharepoint and network admins right away: works with your current SharePoint credentials; no need to make any application changes, and no server-side configuration.

The list of features for the app includes document sharing, browsing and managing, real-time collaboration, support for Office 365 and a good looking set of authentication and security features. Here are some of its touted key benefits:

• ACCESS TO SHAREPOINT ON THE GO – Access and navigate SharePoint sites from your mobile device. Anytime, anywhere.
• IMPROVED PROJECT MANAGEMENT – Get real-time updates as colleagues edit important documents such as proposals and contracts. Reach out to the last document contributor with one click. No more need to call or email to check on project progress.
• SIGNIFICANT PRODUCTIVITY BOOST – No need to wait till you are back at the office. Accessing the information you want and share it with colleagues from the road.
• DRIVE ADOPTION OF SHAREPOINT SOCIAL NETWORKS – Users can access their social network by locating colleagues from their SharePoint and local mobile device contact lists.

In my previous work as an IT consultant and network manager I was always hugely impressed with Sharepoint – so it’s great to see another good looking option for Sharepoint access on the iPad.

There is a free (LIte) read-only version of the app, and the full Sharepoint Mobile Client app is priced at $19.99 and is a universal app designed for both iPad and iPhone.

If any of you use Sharepoint in your work, I’d love to hear what you think of this app if you get a chance to try it out.

I spotted this app via a TUAW post on it.
