Photoristic HD

Photoristic HD is a new photo editing / effects app for the iPad, just released today. The app is touted as the fastest photo editor in town:

You will not find a faster photo editor in the whole App Store! Unlike others it uses GPU resources instead of device’s general CPU.

The app’s description also mentions ‘unique algorithms’ that lead to filters and effects being applied in seconds. Here are some of its key features:

***GENERAL EDITING TOOLS.
A set of professional standard image adjustment features necessary for any photo editing (white balance, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, vibrance, saturation) to enhance your photo like never before.
***ADVANCED COLOR CONTROL.
Apply general editing tools to each of 8 colors separately (red, orange, yellow, green, aqua, blue, purple and magenta) to give your photos a unique and very special look.
***BLACK&WHITE MODE.
Experience the convenience of making stunning black&white photography with no special skills at all. Adjust different colors separately so they appear lighter or darker on your photo for a dramatic effect.
***SPLIT TONING FEATURE
Colorize dark and light regions of the image into two different colors.
***INSANELY EASY NAVIGATION
Extremely intuitive and friendly user interface make the app suitable for both professional and “point-and-shoot” photographers.

Photoristic HD for iPad
I’ve been trying the app out for a week or so, and though I haven’t done any concrete algorithm / Speedy Gonzalez measuring I can verify that it really does render its effects very, very quickly.

The photo editing apps category is one where iPad users are spoiled for choice. There are a number of great apps in this area, not least of which is PhotoToaster – our pick for the Best iPad App of 2012. Photoristic HD is another strong app in this category, one that I;’ll be keeping around and adding to my handful of excellent photos apps.

Here’s an App Store link for Photoristic HD; it’s priced at $4.99.

  1. Like you I have a wealth of photo editing apps on my iPad, any quite a few that are no longer on there. This is an excellent app for someone who wants to quickly and effectively edit their photos. It does a clean job, and it is very quick. Good review, and great app.
