Pocket Informant has been an award-winning and stellar PIM (Personal Information Manager) on various mobile platforms for many years. It was an essential app for me for many years on Windows Mobile. The iPhone version of the app offers powerful calendar and task management abilities and a slew of features.
This is another app that should translate very well for the iPad. And fortunately the app’s developers have definite plans for bringing it to the iPad.
My friend Dan Cohen at Gear Diary has the scoop on those plans. The short story is that WebIS – the developers of Pocket Informant – will be taking the same slow, steady approach with the iPad as they did with the iPhone.
They’ll first work on just getting their existing iPhone app to work well on the bigger iPad screen – so making it iPad ‘compatible’ is the first step for them. Then they’ll start on a custom-designed for iPad version.
It sounds like Pocket Informant will certainly not be amongst the first ‘designed for iPad’ apps, but it’s a quality app that should be well worth the wait.
