Plus for Google is the first new 3rd party Google+ app for iPad that I’ve seen. Its App Store intro is not exactly shy …
The ultimate, fastest, easiest-to-use, most convenient Google+ app fully-optimized for iPhone 4/iPod/iPad retina display. Makes sharing on your iPhone more like sharing in real life. Discover what’s happening right now, anywhere in the world with Google+!
It has everything you want in Google+ as well as advanced chat using Google Talk.
Here’s its feature list:
✓ Beautiful user interface using iPhone/iPad functionality
✓ Selectively share with specific groups within given circles, rather than sharing with all their social connections at once.
✓ Create Hangouts.
✓ Chat with people on Google+
I’m an everyday Google+ user already, so of course I’ve given this app a quick look today, and I have to say I’m not impressed at all.
One plus point (lame pun intended) for it is that it works in landscape and portrait mode, which Google’s own app doesn’t do (as it’s just an iPhone app for now, not a universal app with iPad support).
Apart from that I can’t see anything much to recommend about this app. It looks like a quick repackaging of the Google+ site and not one that is terribly well done. It doesn’t let you upload photos, which the official Google+ app does, and after just a quick tour around it I really don’t find it any better to use than the Google+ iPhone app in 2X mode.
The Google+ iPhone app is free and Plus for Google is 99 cents and listed as on sale at 80% off. Your mileage may vary of course, but I’m not seeing this being a worthwhile paid app.
