The Sonnets by William Shakespeare is one of the very best iPad apps covering Shakepeare’s works, and it’s currently on sale at more than 70% off. It’s down from its standard price of $13.99 to just $3.99.

This app offers a wealth of information and analysis of all 154 of Shakespeare’s sonnets, interviews with leading scholars discussing their meaning, and performances of all of them by a star-studded cast that includes: Sir Patrick Stewart (Star Trek, X-Men, Royal Shakespeare Company), David Tennant (Dr Who, Hamlet), Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City), Fiona Shaw (The Waste Land, Harry Potter), Stephen Fry (The Hobbit) and Dominic West (The Wire).

I did a review of The Sonnets by William Shakespeare last year and also included it in our selection of the Best iPad Apps of 2012. Here’s just a little slice of what I had to say in my review of it:

Overall this is a just a wonderful iPad app. I think it makes the sonnets approachable and interesting even for those of us who never appreciated them back in our school days. For those who are already enthusiastic about these poems the app should be a real treasure trove.

It also looks like an absolute star for use in classrooms.

Here’s an App Store link for The Sonnets of William Shakespeare.
