The excellent Robots for iPad app has been updated this week, to Version 1.3. And this is the best kind of update you could want for this app – the kind that leads with new robots.
25 new robots are added in fact – along with more videos, photos, and interactive elements. The new robots include some of the most interesting and even controversial types like humanoid and drones.
I haven’t had a chance to spend too much time with the updated version yet, but there are already a few of the newly added robots that caught my eye. One is the imposing looking ‘Chaos’ robot shown above. It’s described as a ‘tough and agile mobile robot designed for military and industrial operations’.
‘Bandit’ is even more interesting. This is a humanoid robot with a wonderful purpose. It’s a ‘friendly, socially assistive’ robot that is being used to help children with autism, motivate older adults in physical exercise, and provide therapies to stroke patients.
I did a review of Robots for iPad last year and it was an instant favorite for me. It was included in our list of the Best iPad Apps of 2012 too. It’s great to see this app updated with new robots, and still a free app.
