The Skype for iPad app has been recently updated, to Version 4.9. The headline new feature in this latest update to the Skype iPad app is free video messaging – so when you try to call somebody via Skype you can leave video message.
The update details list this feature as ‘Video messaging is now free and unlimited’, but the Skype app itself showed me text saying I had 19 free video messages left after leaving one earlier this morning – and prompted me to upgrade to a Premium account for unlimited free video messages.
So either the app needs another update to make it stop warning about a false 20 free video messages, or Skype should stop promoting the free video messages feature as unlimited.
Here’s the remaining items on the change list for Version 4.9 of Skype for iPad:
– Audio and video call stability improvements.
– Share photos more reliably.
– Improved accessibility for video messaging.
– General fixes and improvements.
Hopefully Skype will soon clarify the wording on the free video messages side of things.
