GNM, publisher of the Guardian, Observer and guardian.co.uk website network, including MediaGuardian.co.uk, also has an iPad app in the early stages of development.

That’s a little slice of an article in The Guardian, on their plans for a major update to their iPhone app, coming next month barring any problems with approval from Apple. The Guardian iPhone app will switch to a subscription model for UK users – with 6 month and 12 month options available for £2.99 and £3.99 respectively. The app will be free for US users, but likely with in-app ads to support this.

The Guardian is one of the top broadsheet newspapers in the UK, and an old favorite of mine. I’m very glad to head they’ve got an iPad app in development, and hoping that it will launch with subscription options right from the off for UK readers.
