Heads Up iPad app

Heads Up! is one of the most simple and most fun iOS games I’ve seen in a good while. It’s an instant  party game on your iPad or iPhone and a barrel of laughs to play with two people or more.

Here’s a little slice of its App Store description:

Heads Up! is the fun and hilarious new game that Ellen DeGeneres plays on her show — and now you can play it with your friends!
From naming celebrities, to singing, to silly accents — guess the word on the card that’s on your head from your friends’ clues before the timer runs out!

It started life as an iPhone only game and was updated just a few days ago to a universal app with a shiny new iPad version. The game couldn’t be simpler to play – you pick a category, tap Play, then turn the iPad around to face whoever you’re playing with. The person / people you’re playing with describe each word shown and you try to guess the word. When you get one right you do a quick tilt up of the iPad to move on to the next word. When you feel stuck, you tilt the iPad up to pass.

There are several ‘decks’ / categories included to get you started and you can buy quite a few more via In-App purchase at 99 cents each. Decks include: Animals, Movies, Just for Kids, As Seen on TV, Branded, Sports Legends, Fictional Characters, Superstars, Act It Out, and plenty more.

My 10 year old daughter and I started playing this on my iPad mini last week, before the iPad version even came out – and we had a blast and found lots of decks we enjoyed playing. She particularly enjoys the Act It Out and Accents & Impressions decks.

This game should prove popular with families, at parties, and just whenever you feel like a bit of easy fun with the iPad. Oh, and there’s even a nice little ‘How to Play’ video that feature Ellen walking you though it.
