Upcoming iPad Apps: GameTable

GameTable iPad app

GameTable gives you a totally new way to play classic board and card games, on the revolutionary new Apple iPad.

Gorgeous, photo-realistic tables and game piece graphics provide all the tools for you and your friends to play Checkers, Chess, Backgammon, Poker, Solitare, and more.

This seems a nice idea to take advantage of the size of the iPad screen and its potential for some two-player action with some classic board games.

Apparently there is no “logic” built into this app at all – so single player games are out I guess. The app is said to provide an ‘extremely intuitive and fun’ way to interact with the tables and pieces.

The developers of GameTable – Label Interactive – say the app should be available in the App Store – at an introductory price of $0.99 – soon after the iPad itself is released late next month.

I’m sure there will be no shortage of similar apps with single as well as two-player options (and of course there are plenty of current iPhone apps that fit that bill and will run on the iPad as well) – but this one looks like it may have a certain charm to it, and will encourage folks to be a tad more social, in a ‘in real life’ kind of way.

What do you all think of this one?  Is it one you’ll be looking out for on the iPad?
