Sales of the iPad hit one million last Friday (April 30) – only 28 days after launching, and on the day of the iPad 3G launch.
"One million iPads in 28 days — that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone," said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, in a statement released Monday. "Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers."
Another couple notable iPad numbers:
— iPad users have already downloaded more than 12 million apps from the App Store and over 1.5 million eBooks from the new iBookstore
It is also estimated that Apple sold 300,000 of the new iPad WiFi + 3G model over its launch weekend.
Pretty amazing numbers considering the initial skepticism surrounding the iPad, and the fact that it is still only available in the US. Later this month it will be launched in the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Italy, Japan, and Switzerland. International pre-orders start on May 10th.
