Apple® today announced that the Wi-Fi models of its magical iPad™ will be available to customers in China from Apple Retail Stores, and select Apple Authorized Resellers, on Friday, September 17 starting at 10:00 a.m.

From what I can recall, this means the iPad will have broken into the China market much more quickly then the iPhone did – although the iPhone clearly laid the groundwork.  It’ll be interesting to see how it does – as the iPhone had a very lukewarm to poor reception initially.

If I did my currency conversions right, it looks the iPad WiFi only models will sell in China for around $590, $708, and $826 for the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models respectively – a healthy premium over what each costs in the US.
