Target to Start Selling iPads October 3

Target, the second-largest discount retail chain in the U.S., announced Friday that it will begin carrying all six models of Apple’s iPad at its stores starting Oct. 3.

The recent rumors proved true on this one. It’s good to see Apple expanding the iPad’s availability among top US retailers. I’m glad to see Target added to the list as we’ve got one just down the road from us and if they start carrying iPad accessories then that’s another handy place to check them out.

This move could make buying accessories worse, not better, at least in the short term.

Even without Target, there are not enough accessories for all of the stores that want to sell them. A few miles from here a BestBuy is right next to a Target. I assume neither one will have the camera adapter or case I want to buy.

    1. Well, hopefully accessory vendors will soon get caught up with demand, just as Apple has with the iPad itself.
