I spent most of last night watching the NBA All Star Game and The Walking Dead, but I also caught the later stages of the Academy Awards show. And I was very happy to see that The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, from Moonbot Studios, won an Oscar for Best Short Film (Animated).
Last year Moonbot Studios also published an iPad version of The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore. To say I’m a big fan of the app would be a huge understatement. It was our choice for best app of all in our list of the Best iPad Apps of 2011.
Their second iPad storybook / game / adventure is Numberlys, which is every bit as impressive as the story of Morris Lessmore.
Congratulations to Moonbot Studios. Here’s hoping they have lots more magic in the pipeline for the movies and for the iPad.
Thank you so much!! Both my 7 year old and 2 year old will LOVE this!!! Beautiful story brought to new life on the iPad. THIS is what Steve Jobs meant by ‘magical’!!
There were a couple of reviews indicating that the app crashed – also experienced this (wonder if this might only be the case for iPad 1?), but it restarts, and is easy enough to navigate back to the original page, so I can overlook it. Thanks for the tip. I also noticed that there’s a movie iTunes for this that can be downloaded, so I grabbed that too, which makes a nice accompaniment.
Glad to hear you’re excited about this great app. I haven’t seen crashes or issues with it on the iPad 2.
I have the latest IPad and have downloaded The Fantastic Flying Books app, and I have had no success with getting any of the pages to animate. Very frustrating.
