Today at Apple’s Loop you In  Keynote we got our first look at the newest member of the iPad Pro family.  The 9.7″ iPad Pro embodies all the advances of its bigger sibling.  With the addition of speakers in every corner that automatically adjust the high frequency to the top speaker no matter what the orientation there’s never a wrong way to hold your iPad.  Apple’s included its most advanced processor to date–the 64-bit A9X chip.  Now you can achieve CPU performance that is almost 2X that of the iPad Air 2, and edit 4k video that is smooth and responsive. This means that graphics also receive a nice bump allowing for even more fluid visuals and rendering that produce detailed animations.

Some additional features include the following…

  • 12-megapixel iSight camera  capable of capturing images with 50 percent higher resolution than any other iPad, and 240‑fps slo-mo videos, as well as Live Photos.
  • A wider color gamut that produces 25% created color saturation.
  • It’s also the first iPad with True Tone flash, that uses 4-channel ambient light sensors that automatically adapt to the ambient lighting, so skin tones are accurate in any scenario.
  • A front-facing FaceTime HD camera sensor that makes video calls more lifelike, as well as a 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera with True Tone Retina Flash.

Just like the 12.9′ version, the 9.7″iPad Pro now has its own version of the Smart Keyboard that utilizes the Smart Connector, and doubles as a handy protective case.  Now you don’t have to worry about cords or annoying, moody Bluetooth pairing–just attach and start using.  Lastly, the new iPad Pro also supports the Apple Pencil!  Now you can draw on your smaller iPad and enjoy all the benefits of palm rejection technology, with this precision tool.

The 9.7″ iPad Pro is available to order on March 24th, with a delivery date of March 31st.  The 32GB Wi-Fi version starts at $599, with the 128GB version coming in at $749–and for the first time there will be a 256GB version available for $899. For cellular options, just add $130 to the price of each Wi-Fi model.  Color options include Silver, Space Gray, Gold and Rose Gold.  For a full iPad model comparison, check out Apple’s iPad page.
