Target to Start Selling iPads Next Month?

Just in case you haven’t heard this one already over the last couple days.  Engadget apparently has a source at Target who has given them evidence of a new product launching next month (10/3) in their stores, with prices ranging from $499 to $829.  Of course those just happen to match the price range for the current set of iPad models.

I don’t tend to think of Target as a go-to place for electronics, but I’m all good with Apple gradually expanding the range of retail outlets that the iPad is available in.  My preferred place to buy Apple products is going to continue to be my local Apple store (can’t beat the service and their handling of big launches) – but I think getting the iPad into Target stores would help get it in the hands of more people who might never set foot in an Apple store.
