This weekend’s iPad wallpapers are a last minute find – in a new iPad wallpapers app called Portscape. Portscape offers up a collection of wallpaper images that feature famous quotes and should work well in both landscape and portrait orientation. Here’s a little more about the app, via its App Store page:
The Portscape engine merges two images, each designed separately in landscape and portrait modes, into one wallpaper. As a result your wallpaper changes, in both appearance and meaning, based on the orientation of the screen.
Additional Features:
– Each wallpaper also features a meaningful quote by a famous historical figure.
– Several distinct collections of wallpapers to choose from, created by different artists, and more to come…you are bound to find plenty of images you like.
– Ready for the New iPad – Optimized for Retina Display !
– Image preview feature, where you can see how each image will look, in both landscape and portrait modes, before you add them to your screen.
I found a couple of wallpapers that I like a lot. The fist is the Bob Marley Love the life you live one shown above. It’s a nice quote and I like the way the wallpaper looks on my home screen too.
The next one that I quite like is this Picasso quote wallpaper:
I like the idea of Portscape, but I’m not a big fan of the actual content yet. The collection of wallpapers is relatively small right now and , for my taste anyway, the vast majority of the images are not very appealing. The selection of quotes seems good (though it could do with more variety too) but the majority of the images don’t do the words justice. Here’s a quick example – I like the Nietzsche quote a lot, but I don’t fancy having that image on my screen at all:
Portscape is a free app though and hopefully the range of images will improve with future updates.
Here’s an App Store link for Portscape.
