9to5Mac has an article up highlighting some juicy little gems spotted within the first iPad TV ad aired during the Oscars ceremony a couple nights back. For starters, it looks like prices in the iBookstore may be very competitive, as shown in the (very blurry) capture above:
During Apple’s iPad commercial last night, we caught a glimpse of iBookstore pricing. The prices seem to fall below hardcover books, audiobook, paperback prices and even Kindles’s pricing. For instance, Ted Kennedy’s memoir, True Compass costs $23 for the hardcover, $19.25 for the B&W Kindle version and $14.95 for the iPad version. Other books show similar price lines.

I posted a few weeks back on 1Password for the iPad – when we got a first look at some mockups of it via Switcher’s Blog. 1Password is an essential app for me on both the iPhone and the MacBook – so it’s one I’m definitely looking forward to seeing on iPad.
Today, there is more news on 1Password for iPad, and some new screencaps of design mockups – including the ones shown above.
According to John Gruber, at Daring Fireball, those ‘missing’ built-in apps for the iPad – the ones that are on the iPhone but not the iPad; Stocks, Calculator, Clock, Weather and Voice Memos – are going to remain missing when the iPad is released. They won’t be showing up as Dashboard-style widgets or in any other form when the device launches, though he does think they might be ‘re-imagined’ by Apple when OS 4.0 comes out this summer.
According to the Google Wave site, “Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.” Continue reading →

Meet iPad, your newest teammate. iPad is the politically correct meeting tech. iPad is just the right size, it’s always ready, easy to carry, and your notes are always with you. iPad, we’ve got to START meeting like this.

It’s been reported today that USA Today has announced plans to have an iPad version ready for iPad launch day:
USA Today said it plans to have software ready to support Apple Computer Inc.’s iPad e-reader when the device hits the streets April 3. … USA Today showed participants attending the 2010 E-reader Symposium at the Donald W. Reynolds Institute at the University of Missouri in Columbia a demonstration of what the paper will look like on the iPad.
