  1. I can’t believe you had never heard of Sid Meier’s Pirates before :-P (according to other article).

I have never used Star Walk. My biggest reason for wanting it is to see if it “really” works as advertised, because I just can’t believe I can hold an iPad to the sky and see constellations as quickly/easily as in the commercials (especially in a city w/ light pollution).

  2. I’ve always wanted to get into astronomy so this would be the perfect time. Looks like a really cool app. A really cool feature is the Picture of the Day which would be stunning, some of the pictures from space are out of this world (pun intended)

  3. I love the ipad insight, it really was the name of the sight is. Great reviews of products for everything ipad.

  4. My son was taking an Astronomy class at Sam Houston and told me about this app. Would love to try it!

  5. I have two boys that are VERY into looking through our 4.5″ telescope, but sadly, nothing we look at in the sky has labels. ;-) This would be a nice add to my iPad and would help they boys and me figure out what it is we’re looking at. I think the Time Machine feature is cool…it can give you a sense for what the sky looked like when you were born or on important dates in history.

  6. Always wanted to go where no man has gone before, and this app is perfect to see what is over our heads, being an award winner tells you how good it is, just got my iPad so this app would be very nice.

  7. I’ve been excited about the star walk app for a while, and I finally just got an iPad so I can’t wait to try it out. As a huge astronomy fan, I think the features look awesome, and I’d love to try them.

  8. This would be cool to take on campouts with my son’s Cub Scout pack and for general star gazing in our backyard (advantage of living in the sticks!).

  9. This is one of my favorite applications. And my favorite feature is the real time motion tracking and the picture of the day.

  10. I loved watching the skies as a kid, but it was always very difficult living in a city; constellations don’t look quite right, obstructed views prevent you from seeing 30% of the night sky or more. I feel like Star Walk overcomes those obstacles to make starwatching easier to be fun for us city dwellers. Always been on my list of apps to get since it came out, really want to see the augmented reality in action.

  11. Five of the nine families in our self-proclaimed ‘Stargazers’ camping group have teachers. Naturally, we tend to share our love of learning about the stars with the rest of the group. The result is an annual camping trip every year around the dates of August 11-12. That’s the date of the Perseids meteor showers every year! Last year, I bought a smart phone and the group was fascinated with the “Google Sky’ app. This year, for the first year, I have an iPad! OMG! Having Star Walk app would be a GREAT addition for our entire group! The STAR SPOTTER and SEARCH functions would definitely help us to recognize what we are gazing at! Looking forward to using it and sharing it, not only with our ‘Stargazer’ camping group, but my third grade class as well! Hope I win!

  12. Just bought a 6″ Newtonian telescope and this would be a great addition to our astronomy class this year.

  13. I already have it on my iPhone and love it. But would be great to see how it works on iPad. The AR feature is awesome :)

  14. An awesome app. What is better on a summer evening cooling off outside than looking at the stars?

  15. Our family Christmas gift was an Orion telescope, as we love looking at the stars …. problem is we’re beginners. This app would be a great companion guide to the telescope – there are so many features! The Time Machine sounds awesome – imagine looking at the stars as they were lined up on our birthday! Awesome.

  16. The star spotter is the feature I am looking forward too. I’ve always been fascinated with the sky and stars.

  17. Wow! Imagine if this app and technology was being utilized when I took astronomy and earth science in school. It would have been fun and exciting. The doors to our minds would have been challenged so differently!

  18. I have the free crappy iPhone version on my ipad2 and would love to get this. My wife is very much into astrology and this is a great way to finally get her to use the iPad which she is afraid of. Lol.

  19. Since I have 6 kids this would be a great time for Dad to get some quality ime in with my kids. You know how hard it is to pull them away from today’s world but this would tie their world into our world. We could take the iPad and star walk out into the field and actually figure out what it is that we are seeing up there in the sky. My Mom tried doing this with me when I was a kid but we only had a book and neither one of us could figure things out very well. I still appreciated my Mom all that much more for trying though and I still have an interest in star watching today. Not to mention fond memories!

  20. I would really like star walk for iPad because I love the compass feature to where when you turn you can see the star in front of where you are. Also I love looking at the stars and I live in arizona so I can’t do that.

  21. With billions of stars on the sky, imagine if just one had planets. And if just one of those had life… There would be millions of planets with life on..

Always been a great fan of the sky.. Now is my chance to get it in my pocket..

    Great giveaway!

  22. I have never used the Star Walk, but it promises so much that I must find out if it really does all those things….

  23. I’d very much like a promo code for this, having read quite a bit about it. The special feature I am most interested in is the augmented reality ability. I’ve just got my ipad 2, and AR is of great interest to me.

I’ve been interested in astronomy for many years, and l find the whole enigma of space fascinating.

  24. Love them – both the app and my shiny iPad 2 :D

Stars spottng is a wonderful thing to do in the night, especially while camping.

  25. I had astronomy class in school but really couldn’t get into it like I wanted to becuz I didn’t have the right equipment at home. I have a friend who is really into astronomy and we dabble in conversation every now and then about the subject. It is really hard to follow sometimes becuz I have been out of the loop for a while. I would use the app for him to show me what he was talking about when we talk about things.

I think all of the notable features you mentioned would be great to help me follow along with my friend as he is giving me updates of what he gets to see from his telescope.

  26. I was blown away by star walk for the iPhone version, high expectations for the iPad.I really hope I can win and be able to thank my lucky stars

  27. Why not? An award winning apple iPad app should be available for everyone. I live in an open area where the stars really like to show off their brightness. I think I would live this app to it’s full potential. I would be very grateful ifi won. Thank you!

  28. Hi. I think this award winning iPad app should be available to everyone especially to those who enjoy astronomy or anything scientific. Olive in a wide open area where the stars shine so bright and do not like to be concealed. I also like exploring beyond our plantet to discover new “worlds”. Finally I would live this app to it’s full potential and would be very grateful. Thank you!

  29. I’m leaving a comment so I can win. My biggest reason to get this is to use as an educational tool for both my 12 yr old son and 5 yr old daughter who are very inquisitive children.

  30. i don’t have much about what to say to. so i would love to have a ipad2 it would thermostat me 2 a bowl of what to do firststrike frist 2 do .or i could call someone or 2 or playing games or watch a trailer ‚ movies ‚ just hold it to the sky and see the stadium they r in the stars . so yes i would thermostat love to have 1.
