I’ve been looking forward to the announcement of the AirPods Max, formerly rumored to be called the AirPods Studio, since the rumors of them started rolling over a year ago. I kept track of all the reports and patent filings and approvals. I’ve paid attention as features and pricing have been discussed. I was let down when the stories of production delays came up a couple of months ago and definitely got my hopes up a few days ago when it looked like Apple got it together and was ready to release.
There is evidence that Apple will be releasing some kind of new hardware at 5:30 AM Pacific today. This weekend I predicted that Apple’s rumored AirTags or a possible Apple TV would be the most likely candidates. This was just a hunch, based on various reports from the previous months. AirTags were supposedly done and ready, while an Apple TV is in development and the AirPods Studio ran into some delay. Continue reading →
If you follow the Apple News cycle on Twitter, then you are probably aware of well-known leaker @L0vetodream. He’s famous not only for his accuracy, but also his cryptic and often poetic rumor delivery. While the flurry of Apple leaks and rumors that he and several others were a part of from summer to fall has subsided, he left us with an interesting parting nugget a few weeks ago that may set him apart from the rest of the crowd.
Jon Prosser released a handful of renders today based on leaks and info he’s received on Apple’s coming AirPods Studio over the ear headphones. While I’ve seen plenty of lukewarm responses and derogatory comments on Twitter, I am liking this unique design so far.
It seems that Apple has been hard at working at making a better set of high-end over the ear headphones. I figured we would just get a souped-up pair of Beat Studio cans with the latest Apple H1 chip, but it looks like Apple is aiming a lot higher with the AirPods Studios that should be released soon. A series patents that were filed back in May but were published today, reveal some of what they have been up to on the design side.
Wether it’s this month, sometime in October, or even November thanks to COVID-19, we all know that new Apple devices will be here soon. If the rumors and reports that have been swirling for a while are true, then we will be in for a whole lot of hardware in a short span of time.
It wasn’t exactly a banner news day in the Apple world, but there are a couple of items that are definitely worth taking note of. First off, Phil Schiller, Apple’s longtime VP of Worldwide Marketing has stepped down from his executive-level role at the company.
All of the sudden, we have multiple sources leaking potential Apple release and event dates. While there are some conflicts and variances, the fact that this news is starting to go public is worth being excited over. This means new Apple gear is getting closer. That’s how the game works. And if a couple of these leaks are correct, that could be very soon.
On Saturday, I wrote about a rumor that parts for the iPad Air are about to head into production this quarter. While that’s good news, this does mean that the new Air won’t be out this summer. It takes time to get all of those components produced, assembled and shipped. However, if a well-known hardware leaker is right, Apple may be ready to offer a few other items in the near future.
Two weeks ago it was looking very much like Apple’s new AirPods Studio over the ear noise cancelling headphones would be arriving soon. I wrote about this at the time and was feeling pretty good about my recent prediction that they would land right before WWDC. I’m not feeling so confident about that call today, as there has been radio silence on this highly anticipated item ever sense.
I don’t have sources and I’m not interested in slinging leaks or becoming the next Jon Prosser. However, I do enjoy making predictions just based on reading the Apple leaves and I love it even more when I get a few right. I won’t claim that happens too often, but I get a few.
So far, my 2020 predictions are looking pretty good. I called full mouse support for iPadOS and a keyboard accessory that would include a trackpad pretty much dead-on in early January. Last week, based on the fact that they were rumored to be in production, I said that Apple’s new AirPods Studio headphones would arrive just before or during the WWDC Keynote. Looks pretty likely that prediction will turn out to be true, as well.
