Living With the AirPods Pro: Working Hard

Week one with the new AirPods Pro has been really good, overall. They basically take all of the strengths of the original AirPods and add to them in meaningful ways. Because of this, Apple’s newest earbuds have received almost universal praise, with only repairability and difficulty in recycling them being the only major complaints. My own experience is pretty close, so far.

My AirPods Pro Arrived a Day Early!

So I ended up getting my AirPods Pro on launch day after all! When I purchased them, my order notification said they would arrive tomorrow and the notification on the Apple Store app still said the same this afternoon. However, when I checked the tracking info after leaving work, low and behold they were out for delivery and headed my way.

Apple’s AirPods Pro Arrive With More Goodies Likely To Come Soon

Apple has the greatest timing with these things. If they are going to drop a product out of the clear blue sky with a press release, I always know for certain it will be a day when I’m slammed at work…just like today. I did finally see that they had revealed the AirPods Pro around 3 hours late and got my order in. I am supposed to get mine on 10/31, which is a day late, but not too bad, I guess.

New iPad Pros: The Sound of Silence

A month or so ago, a small refresh of the iPad Pro in 2019 seemed like a given. So did an October event covering several rumored Apple products. However, as we prepare to close out the month next week, the time for invitations to such an event has come and gone with no news. Continue reading

More Evidence that an Apple Event is Coming Soon

I was starting to wonder about whether Apple might pass on a Fall event this year. Last week there was a Ming-Chi Kuo report claiming that Apple would have a new iPad Pro in the first quarter next year, which would line up with the usual 16-18 month cycle that the device has kept to since release. Considering the lack of iPad Pro hardware leaks, this one made me wonder. Then Neil Cybart tweeted Apple’s event announcement timeframes over the last few years a couple of days ago and we are now outside of the shortest one, which was 11 days.

Deals: AirPod 5-Piece Case Cover & Accessory Pack

Apple changed the game when it came to wireless earbuds when they released the AirPods. I was skeptical at first myself, but it only took a few hours of using them and I was hooked. With their big-time popularity, it only makes sense that a robust accessory ecosystem would grow up around them, and so it has.

Powerbeats Pro: I Think My Wife is in Love

I thought that my wife would love the new Powerbeats Pro wireless earbuds from Apple, but there is no way to be sure about these things. I’ve been wrong before in guessing my wife’s tastes. Even after almost 22 years of marriage, I still don’t have all the answers and I’m sure any husband can relate to that. She can be on the picky side about certain things and it just happens that things she puts on or in her ears are among them.

Powerbeats Pro Arrive!

I would say MY Powerbeats Pro arrived, but they aren’t actually mine. I am taking a look at them so I can write a little about them, but they will belong to my wife very soon. Wednesday was her birthday, so these are her Combo bday/Mother’s Day gift. She was kind enough to let me test drive before she takes them so I won’t get in the way of her listening pleasure once I hand them over.

The Yin and Yang of the Galaxy Fold

Many Apple fans are enjoying sitting back and watching Samsung squirm their way through a disastrous product launch…again. You can’t excuse the sloppiness of the Galaxy Fold and how rushed it was in the race to be first to market. An attempt to be innovative isn’t enough to cover up the hardware failures and suspect design.

All that said, while it is easy to make fun of “the enemy” when they fail, that really doesn’t accomplish anything productive. No more so than when fans of Samsung’s products throw stones at Apple for playing it safe or for iterating on or polishing up existing features. In truth, there is good and bad to both company’s approaches.

Powerbeats Pro Pre-Orders Start Friday. Are They a Better Fit For You?

Apple’s AirPods may currently be the most popular wireless earbuds money can buy, but they aren’t for everyone. My wife is a perfect example, as they just don’t fit properly in her ears. Apple’s buds never have, so they’ve never been a good choice for her. As handy and versatile as AirPods are for someone like me, it doesn’t really matter if they don’t fit well.
