Everyone knows that Apple is heavily invested in Augmented Reality. Just as with the Apple Watch, Tim Cook has telegraphed Apple’s intentions with plenty of comments about their “interest.” Add in Apple’s ARKit, which is the perfect preparatory test bed to get developers working on AR software ahead of a hardware release, the money Apple is spending on R&D these days, and the AR-focused hires we know Apple has been making, and you have all the proof you need that Apple is working on getting into AR hardware early.

In Case There Was Any Doubt, Apple Confirms Their Intentions in AR

You know the old phrase “follow the money?” Well Apple left us a pretty clear trail that came to light this week, and it leads directly to their intentions in Augmented Reality. The rumors that Apple is working toward making a set of stylish and accessible AR glasses have steadily gained steam over the last two years. We even have a report from a reliable source in Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman from last year, talking about Apple working toward a 2020 release date. However, Apple’s recent acquisition of Akonia Holographics is no rumor, and the implications are pretty clear.

Who is Still Gaming on iOS?

So who here is still playing games on their iPhones or iPads? Maybe I’m just jaded and cynical thanks to the once-bright gaming future that Apple never quite delivered on. While I can understand that many may disagree with me, it is hard to ignore how different things are at the moment in comparison with the salad days of 2009-2012, when apps were all the mainstream rage and games were at the heart of it all.
