I Love Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Program

If you haven’t used Apple’s in-house payment plan for iPhones, the you might not understand why I’m a fan. I’ve used it for a few years now, after one year of AT&T’s Next. That last comment is one big reason why: it gets you de-coupled from your cell provider. That, and the fact that it offered me an easy way to upgrade my iPhone yearly by going directly to Apple were big reasons why I made the switch. Add in an easy way to spread out payments for AppleCare+ (now with optional Theft and Loss prevention), and I was sold.

So About the Apple Card and iPhone Upgrade Program

A few days ago, I wrote a bit about the Apple Card after the application process was opened up in the US. The one reservation that I noted in that article was that Apple had not setup payments for the iPhone Upgrade Program to get 3% Apple Cash, even though it really is an Apple purchase. However, it turns out I was wrong about that.

Apple Adds Mail-In Option to iPhone Upgrade Program

According to a report by Engadget, Apple has added some flexibility to its iPhone Upgrade Program ahead of today’s iPhone X announcement. Just a few days ago, I was wondering if Apple would start pushing this program more, and this is definitely a positive sign.

If Apple Wants to Boost their iPhone Upgrade Program, the iPhone Edition is the Perfect Opportunity

I brought up the iPhone Upgrade Program a couple of weeks ago, asking whether it is time for Apple to unveil a version for the Apple Watch. However, with the announcement of the new iPhone Edition/X imminent, it is time to focus on Apple’s true flagship, and its existing upgrade program. I think that this particular launch presents a unique opportunity for Apple to grow their iPhone Upgrade Program and foster an even closer relationship with their customer using the anticipation of this highly anticipated tenth anniversary version of the iPhone.
